amo las canciones bellas y profundas, las canciones que trascienden épocas, tiempos y fronteras. los standards de jazz siempre me cautivaron por lo intrincado de su armonía y la posibilidad que ofrecen a la hora de improvisar, pero sobre todo porque considero que muchos son verdaderas piedras preciosas de la canción. me propuse comenzar a grabar e interpretar parte de este repertorio conservando la pureza de estas melodías, recordando como las hubiera cantado Chet, haciendo hincapié en las letras que muchas veces no oímos porque estamos acostumbrados a las versiones y reversiones instrumentales que tanto abundan. encontré en Hernan Hecht ( batería ) , Roberto Verástegui ( piano ) y Pablo González Sarre ( contrabajo ) a tres compañeros ideales para interpretar estas canciones: siendo músicos muy reconocidos en la escena del Jazz en Mexico están, también, inmersos cotidianamente en la profunda simpleza de las canciones.

i love beautiful and deep songs, those that transcend time and frontiers. jazz standards have always captivated me for their intrincate harmonies and the possibilities when improvising, but most of all i consider them true gems of song.
i set to record and perform this repertoire of old jazz standards with the mission to never overshadow their pureness, remembering how Chet would do it, and paying special attention to the lyrics we don´t usually aknowledge because of the abundant instrumental versions around.
i found in Hernán Hecht ( drums ), Roberto Verástegui ( piano ) and Pablo González Sarre ( double bass ) perfect partners for this endeavour: they are some of Mexico's jazz scene most renowed musicians and they're also inmersed on a daily basis in the profound simplicity of song.
